MONDAY MOTIVATOR (IT’S NOT REALLY MORNING ANYMORE)

I saw motivation in action this weekend. . From everything I’ve read, my son, Jeff,  did something that only 1 percent of the population ever accomplishes – he completed a marathon.

One article said that a lot of people WANT to do marathons, but when they see the training involved, they back out or start the marathon itself, but don’t make it very far.

I went north to be part of his fan base.

Jeff’s training started last January. You think training for a marathon is difficult, try doing it in the northwoods where there is perpetual freezing temperatures and ice-covered terrain.

He persevered.

Saturday morning (6:45) I took him to North Pines High School in Eagle River, where the racers were bused to the starting line. (Cindy and the kids met me at 9:00.)

He didn’t do quite as well as he wanted to – but was only 20 minutes over his targeted time.

Congratulations, Jeff – on completing your first marathon.  (I think I heard something about the next one, right?)

He's coming! Let's just say - it was extremely cold - 30 some degrees.
