MEANWHILE …

We had something else very cool  happening on the other side of the field.

They had a kids FUN RUN. For every lap you ran, you received a black straw. When you received ten black straws, you exchanged it for a white one. Then you could get a prize from the prize table.

The 5yo does 40 laps.

The laps were around a tennis court – and this went on for about four hours during all the adult races. The people in charge encouraged the kids to do 40 laps.

However, if you did 100 laps – you received a medal – actually a super cool medal that says Journeys Marathon Fun Run – 100 laps.

The three girls decided to go for it. (We think the distance was between three and four miles.)

One of the 9yos zooms toward the straw pickup.

The other 9yo wishes the people in front of her would go faster.

The 7yo (who was the second kid to complete 100 laps) intently keeps going.

All three girls made it - with no complaining - and were three of only 16 total kids to do it.

  1. What a great idea. I may use that for an Awana “outing” next fall. Thanks for sharing it.

    And way to go, kids!!!
